Why hard water matters in North Texas
DFW water carries minerals that settle at the bottom of a tank as sediment. That sediment insulates the water from the burner or element, so the heater works harder, makes noise and wears out early. Flushing the tank once a year helps, and it is one of the cheapest ways to extend heater life.
Repair or replace?
Most tank heaters last about 8 to 12 years. If yours is under 8 years old and the problem is a thermostat, element, gas valve or thermocouple, repair usually makes sense. If the tank itself is leaking, replacement is the only real fix. A heater over 10 years old with repeated issues is usually better replaced.
Tank or tankless
Tank units cost less upfront. Tankless units give continuous hot water and save space, but they cost more to install and need periodic descaling in hard-water areas. We can walk through the options for your home and budget.
Safety notes
